From Party Panic to Fearless Freedom 🌟

Picture this: a carefree 19-year-old, at a university party, surrounded by friends, full of excitement and energy. But suddenly, everything changes. I found myself unexpectedly gripped by agoraphobia—a term I hadn’t even heard of at the time. What followed was over 15 years of navigating life with a growing sense of fear. Bridges, motorways, and wide open spaces became the enemies I avoided, unable to shake the panic that would set in. Little by little, I embarked on a journey of gradual exposure to these fears. Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve reclaimed my freedom. While there are still hurdles I face, the progress has been transformative.

Embracing Entrepreneurship: Pioneering Mental Wellness through my newly formed coaching business Calm That Anxiety Ltd.! 🚀

In December 2023, I made a significant change: I left behind my corporate leadership coaching and consulting career to focus fully on Calm That Anxiety Ltd. Why the shift? Because I wanted to channel my energy into supporting leaders and individuals struggling with anxiety, stress and workplace pressures. Through tailored 1-1 coaching, dynamic workshops, and mental health community events, I’m determined to make a difference and create positive change. It’s been an exciting leap, and I’m thrilled to be part of the movement to bring mental health conversations to the forefront.

Student for Life: UCL Bound 📚

Learning is a lifelong journey, and mine led me to University College London, where I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This qualification, accredited by the British Psychological Society, provided me with essential clinical skills to better understand and support those dealing with mental health challenges. During my studies, I also worked with the NHS on a placement at a talking therapies centre in London, offering support to individuals navigating anxiety, stress, and depression. This experience deepened my commitment to mental health advocacy and strengthened my ability to help others on their healing journeys.

Championing Change: A Voice for Mental Health Advocacy 🌟

Mental health advocacy is more than a passion for me—it’s a calling. As a lived experience volunteer for Mind, I’ve had the privilege of shaping national mental health initiatives, from contributing to focus groups to participating in thought-provoking panel discussions. My personal journey with anxiety fuels my commitment to these causes, and I’m proud to play a part in raising awareness and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health. I’ve also worked with Anxiety UK, supporting their national helpline, where I’ve been able to guide individuals through moments of panic, offering them resources and calming techniques to help them regain control.

Spicing Up Mental Health Conversations: Jerk Chicken Chat Unleashed! 🌴

One of the most rewarding projects I’ve led is Jerk Chicken & Chat, an event where men gathered to break the silence on mental health. Coming from Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana, I know all too well the stigma that surrounds mental health in Caribbean and similar cultures. This event was not only about providing a platform for men to open up but also about celebrating culture and connection over familiar food. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees sharing their gratitude for creating a space to discuss mental health openly. The community is already asking when the next event will be—so, stay tuned!

Through all of these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of embracing vulnerability, seeking support, and being open to change. My journey is ongoing, and I am deeply committed to helping others find the tools and support they need to live with less anxiety and more peace.

If any of this resonates with you or you’re curious to learn more about my work, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can create a space where mental health is no longer a taboo but a conversation that empowers us all.
